Call for Concept Paper Judges – Stella Zhang New Venture Competition

Volunteer as a Concept Paper Judge and support Orange County’s next-generation tech startups.

The UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business is thrilled to announce that the 2026 Stella Zhang New Venture Competition (SZNVC) received nearly 150 concept paper submissions—an unprecedented level of interest from students, faculty, and alumni. To ensure each team receives thoughtful, constructive feedback, the SZNVC is seeking experienced volunteers to serve as Concept Paper Judges.

Concept Paper Judges play a critical role in the competition, providing early-stage guidance to student founders as they refine their business ideas. This year’s submissions cover a wide range of industries, from consumer products and services to business and technology ventures. Judges with experience in startups, entrepreneurship, venture capital, or business education are particularly encouraged to participate.

Judging is flexible and can be completed online, reviewing 5–10 papers at your convenience. All judges will receive an orientation session to align on evaluation criteria and best practices. Submissions must be completed by March 15, 2026.

Volunteering as a Concept Paper Judge is a unique opportunity to support the next generation of Orange County innovators while gaining early access to emerging business ideas.
